Labor, Equipment, and Material Costs

  • 1. For each location, comprehensive labor rates are calculated through an analysis of taxes and payroll charges, taking into account union agreements, contractor rates, regulatory requirements, allowances, and salary adjustments based on the work schedule.
  • 2. Construction equipment rates are determined based on whether the equipment is leased or owned, and include fuel consumption based on workload, consumables, maintenance, insurance, inspections, and other costs.
  • 3. PCU maintains a database of material and equipment prices from suppliers and contractors, as well as manufacturers' catalogs.

  • 1. Review of engineering drawings and documents; calculation of quantities of equipment, materials, and structures to be installed or modified.
  • 2. When necessary, an engineering analysis is conducted to confirm design criteria, such as the size of secondary and auxiliary equipment.
  • 3. Appropriate quantities are defined as percentages or based on factors for engineering purposes and for components that are not fully defined.
  • 4. The PCU system offers templates for various fields and industries that ensure data acquisition.

  • 1. Estimates the amount of labor required to be performed by a specific crew, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • 2. Uses as many sub-activity levels as required.
  • 3. Assigns productivity rates to each crew for each task, or uses standard productivity rates from the PCU system that have been adjusted for the project's conditions.
  • 4. Calculates the unit costs and sub-costs.
